We have developed and publicly shared a set of five, global Onshore Operating Principles, which apply to onshore tight/shale gas and oil activities where we operate and hydraulic fracturing is used. These principles cover safety and well integrity, air quality, water protection and use, footprint and engagement with local communities. We support regulations designed to reduce risks to the environment and keep those living near our operations safe. As new technologies, challenges and regulatory requirements emerge, we review and update these principles.
Each of our projects takes into account the local context and we then design our activities to best suit the local conditions. We are committed to providing benefits to communities around our shales assets and are involved in a range of social investment initiatives, ranging from health to education/training and road safety.
