Shell’s Groundbirch asset produces dry – primarily sweet – gas from the Montney formation in northeast British Columbia (BC), Canada. Groundbirch offers significant long-term integration value.

We are involved in seven shale projects in North America. In Canada, we are active in the Duvernay and Wet Montney oil plays in Alberta along with the Montney gas play in British Columbia. In the US, we are active in the Marcellus and Utica gas plays in Appalachia, the Delaware Basin portion of the Permian play and a non-operated position in the Haynesville gas play. Outside of North America, we are also active in the Vaca Muerta shale play.

Shell is exploring for and producing light tight oil (LTO) in the Permian Basin, which is North America’s premier shale play. Permian is Shell’s core LTO asset with accelerated production in selected areas.
Shell is producing light tight oil (LTO) from the Duvernay and Montney formations in north-western Alberta. It has a premier position in the Duvernay liquids play.
Shell is exploring for, and appraising light tight oil (LTO) and shale gas in the prospective Vaca Muerta project located in the Neuquén Basin in Argentina.
Shell produces dry gas in the Appalachia Basin. This basin offers production with a low break-even point (BEP).
Shell’s Foothills assets, located in central and southern Alberta (Canada), produce sales gas (methane), natural gas liquids (NGL), condensate and Sulphur.
