It’s 8 a.m. on Monday in January and more than 350 Shell employees are ready to work.
But on this special holiday commemorating Dr. Martin Luther King, they’re stepping out of their regular jobs in the energy industry to provide the energy the Houston Food Bank needs to feed thousands of families.
They’ll spend the next eight hours assisting operations at the food bank’s massive warehouse, sorting and packing food items for distribution to more than 400 agencies that feed over 800,000 hungry people each year.
To do that, it takes time and talent. According to the Houston Food Bank, over the past 30 years Shell volunteers have provided over 10,000 hours of service to support these efforts.
